Since creating a red wine sauce is not terribly difficult, and the results are a happy family and happy guests, making your own red wine sauce for a family dinner or group gathering is a good way to improve almost any meal.

How to Make a Red Wine Sauce

    Ingredients:

    • Dry Red Wine
    • Chicken Stock
    • Balsamic Vinegar
    • Minced Shallots
    • Dijon Mustard
    • Butter
    • Spices (salt, pepper, basil, etc.)

After you have completely sautéed your meats (do not remove the juices), remove the meat from the pan and turn the heat low. Place two minced shallots into the pan and stir to ensure they do not burn.

Turn your burner back up to high and add both ½ cup of the red wine and ½ cup of the chicken stock. Once the ingredients have reached a full boil, reduce the heat back to medium and continue to stir.

Once the mixture has stopped boiling, add about 1 tablespoon of the vinegar and 1 teaspoon of the Dijon mustard.

Once your sauce has reached a density you like, turn off the heat and add 2 or 3 tablespoons of butter.

Finally, feel free and add any spices you may like (salt and pepper may be necessary, basil and other spices are optional), pour onto the meat and serve.

Be sure and serve the meat right away because the sauce tastes best when it is new and fresh.

Your guest or family will love their homemade red wine sauce, and you will enjoy making this simply but delicious sauce that complements your meat and your meal.
